The Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila, recently expressed her country’s commitment to supporting Serbia’s aspirations to become a member of the European Union. This announcement was made after a meeting in Belgrade with leaders from Bulgaria, Greece, and Serbia, signaling a collaborative effort to address various challenges such as migration and trade.
Serbia is determined to align itself with the EU, joining the other nations in the region on this path. With Romania preparing to assume the EU presidency on January 1st for a six-month term, there is optimism about advancing the agenda effectively given the current circumstances and planned strategies.
“Romania is backing Serbia’s European integration,” stated Dancila, who invited Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic to Bucharest to raise awareness of Serbia’s progress. Dancila emphasized the importance of supporting Serbia collectively.
“We must continue to support the Western Balkan countries and prioritize the enlargement process,” said Dancila. President Vucic of Serbia confirmed discussions to form a commission to explore the possibility of jointly hosting major football events such as the European Championship in 2028 or the World Cup in 2030.
