Former Florida WR Antonio Callaway fails the latest drug test at the combine

Antonio Callaway, the former Florida wide receiver, is tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine. Some of the NFL sources said. Callaway’s new agent, Maki Kawa said that a diluted sample had caused the positive test and such a diluted sample is treated as a positive test result under the NFL’s Policy and Program on Substances Abuse.

Ian Rapoport from the NFL Media reports, Callaway has told those close to him he was over-hydrated and will address the issue with teams.”

During the combine, Kawa did not represent Callaway as he was hired two weeks ago. Callaway and his former agent Melvin Bratton parted ways shortly after Callaway was informed that he had been tested positive. Because of the previous incidents, Callaway had off the field; he was viewed as a potential second-day pick by some of the teams.

A female Florida student had accused Callaway in December 2015 of sexually assaulting her. But fortunately, a Title IX officer had cleared him off the wrongdoing in August 2016. The woman and her witnesses boycotted the hearing as the university appointed an attorney, who was a Gators football booster, to hear the case. Callaway was never criminally charged with the incident.

As per the hearing of officer’s ruling, Callaway testified that he was high on marijuana during the encounter with the woman and that he was so stoned that he did not feel like having sex with anyone. Callaway is also one among the nine Florida players who had allegedly stolen the credit information to fund bookstore accounts last season. He was also cited for misdemeanour marijuana possession and possession of drug equipment when the Gainesville police made him stop in traffic in May 2017.

One of the talented evaluators said that Callaway had enough talent to stay ahead and win a gold jacket, but now it might be a challenge for him to get drafted.
