It is reported that the first eclipse of 2018 will be a lunar one that is most likely to be appearing on the last of January, i.e., 31. It is said that it will be a total eclipse that involves the second full moon of the month that is popularly considered to be as the blue moon. This kind of a sky watching event hasn’t happened for more than 150 years.
The eclipse will take place at midnight, and it is said that the Pacific Ocean will be turned towards the moon. At the time the central and eastern Asia, Indonesia, and New Zealand and most of the parts in Australia get a fine view of this beautiful and spectacular moon show in the evening sky.
Heading for western Asia, in the Middle East and the Eastern Europe and the Indian subcontinent, the eclipse will be underway the moon rises to the east. Alaska, Hawaii, and north western Canada will see the eclipse from start to finish. However, along with the US and its waist coast, the total lunar eclipse begins at 4 am. The further you go; you could see the eclipse clearer.
For instance, the moon will enter into the darkest part of the earth’s shadow, the umbra at 6:45 am and will disappear after 75 minutes. The moon’s lower part is said to be appeared more bright and clear than the upper part.
It is estimated that the next lunar eclipse that would be spotted on earth would be on 31st December 2028. And the next to it will be on January 31, 2037. There was an 8% lunar eclipse recorded in 2009, but for a total blue moon eclipse, you need to go back all the way to March 31, 1866. So, this concludes that the upcoming total lunar eclipse is coming all the way after 150 years.
