The US equestrian team recently revealed Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of renowned singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen, will be participating in the Tokyo Olympics as a showjumper.

She will be joining a team of four athletes that includes McLain Ward, Kent Farrington, and Laura Kraut. Ward, a seasoned Olympian, has previously won gold at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, with Kraut also being part of the winning squad in 2008. Additionally, Ward and Farrington both secured silver medals at the 2016 Rio Games.

Springsteen, 29, first entered the Olympic scene in London nine years ago as an alternate but missed out on Rio four years later.

In an interview with People magazine last year, Springsteen expressed gratitude for her parent’s unwavering support for her showjumping career. “They come to my shows whenever possible,” she mentioned. “Even when they can’t be there in person, they watch online, and having them there means a lot to me.”

Springsteen’s equestrian journey began at the young age of four, and she achieved early success by winning the Washington International Pony Equitation Classic Final at just six years old.

Reflecting on the importance of family support, she highlighted, “Having your family by your side is crucial. It adds to the enjoyment of the experience.”

Her current equine partner for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics is a 12-year-old stallion named Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.
