The baseball player responsible for the violent attack on an umpire during a recent game has been identified.

Elvis LeBron, a baseball player from the Dominican Republic, became visibly upset during a tournament game due to the umpire’s calls on balls and strikes. Following his ejection from the game, LeBron reacted by assaulting the umpire with his bat.

MLB Insider Hector Gomez is calling for LeBron to be banned from the league and face charges of attempted murder.

According to Gomez and TMZ Sports, LeBron has been arrested by local authorities and has been disassociated from the Chicago Cubs, for whom he was a prospect before this incident.

“LeBron pushed the umpire in the face with his left hand and viciously swung his bat at him with his right hand.

The umpire fell to the ground, but LeBron’s attack didn’t stop there.

In the video, LeBron is seen removing his helmet and throwing it at the umpire before attempting to strike him again with the bat, until other players and coaches intervened.

Thankfully, the situation was diffused, but as reported by Gomez, LeBron was apprehended by local law enforcement shortly after the incident.

The umpire, on the other hand, attempted to continue officiating the game but had to be taken to the hospital an hour later for examination,” Gomez states.
