Following the tragic Calabasas helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others over a year ago, the world was left stunned and saddened. Recently, rapper Meek Mill sparked outrage by incorporating the tragedy into his lyrics in a song with Lil Baby titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe).”

In the song, Meek Mill raps the line “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my choppa, it be another Kobe,” using a double entendre that not only alludes to Kobe but also refers to a slang term for an automatic rifle. The verse drew severe backlash from social media users for its perceived insensitivity.

Meek Mill responded to the criticism on Twitter, stating, “Somebody promo a narrative and y’all follow it. Y’all internet antics cannot stop me… shit like zombie land or something! Lol.” He further commented on the situation, suggesting that outside influences were attempting to control public opinion.

Despite his attempt to address the controversy, Meek Mill’s tweets failed to quell the backlash he received online. Social media continues to express disappointment and disapproval over his choice of lyrics in light of the tragic events surrounding Kobe Bryant’s death.
