Lucasfilm made the decision to terminate Gina Carano’s contract following some offensive remarks she made on her TikTok account.

The former MMA fighter, who played a prominent role in the popular Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian,” will no longer be portraying the character of Cara Dune, as confirmed by a statement from a Lucasfilm representative:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

In her now-deleted posts, Carano drew comparisons between the political environment in the United States and Nazi Germany:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”

This incident is not the first time Carano has faced backlash for her social media presence. She previously shared a photo on her Instagram story depicting an individual wearing multiple face masks with the caption, “Meanwhile in California.”

She also received criticism for insinuating voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election through her posts. Additionally, in November, she inserted “Beep/bop/boop” in her Twitter bio as a jest aimed at those who included preferred pronouns in their Twitter profiles.

Carano’s most recent MMA fight was in 2009, where she suffered a first-round TKO defeat against Cris Cyborg at a Strikeforce event. Since then, she has landed roles in various Hollywood films, such as Deadpool, Fast & Furious 6, and Haywire.
