The Minnesota Wild pulled off an impressive comeback in the third period, setting a new goal record with a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in their home game on November 23, a Friday. Eric Staal seized the perfect opportunity right in front of Winnipeg’s net, scoring off a rebound at the 18-minute mark of the third period, propelling Minnesota to a thrilling win.

Despite being outshot by the Winnipeg Jets 23-22 in the first two periods, the Minnesota Wild faced some challenges in converting power-play opportunities into scores. However, during five-on-five play, Minnesota applied relentless pressure and dominated Winnipeg with a significant 16-6 shot margin in the final period, ultimately dismantling the Jets’ defense with four unanswered goals.

Nino Niederreiter kickstarted the team’s comeback by scoring a pivotal goal at 3:06 into the game-changing third period. Niederreiter further assisted Eric Fehr in leveling the score at 11:47, as he deftly redirected the puck to set up Fehr’s fourth goal of the season.

Matt Dumba also contributed significantly to the Minnesota Wild’s performance, tallying two points and assisting on goals by Staal and Fehr. Dumba’s stellar performance included four assists and five goals over a 6-game point streak, leading all NHL defensemen with ten goals this season. Zach Parise notched his 10th goal of the season and sixth goal in Minnesota’s last nine games.
